About ServiceByReg

ServiceByReg is a UK vehicle check for people about to buy. Enter a registration and we look for the things that decide whether a car is safe to buy at all: stolen markers, insurance write-off category and outstanding finance. Free tax and MOT come first; add the paid risk report when you need it.

Where our data comes from

• DVLA vehicle enquiry service for tax status, fuel, engine size, colour and registration date.
• DVSA MOT history for test results, expiry dates, recorded mileage and advisories.
• Manufacturer service records, where the manufacturer holds a record for that vehicle.
• Industry provenance data for stolen markers, write-off category and outstanding finance.

ServiceByReg is an independent service. It is not part of DVLA or DVSA, and it does not identify the registered keeper.

What we will not do

We do not sell subscriptions and we do not auto-renew anything.

On the £16.99 Complete History Report we authorise your card when you order and take the money only once manufacturer service records have actually been found. We only take payment when manufacturer service records are found. The £9.99 Vehicle Risk Check is charged when you order, because it is delivered whatever the manufacturer holds.

If you add V5C alerts to the Complete History Report and no service records are found, we do not release the whole payment. We keep the £9.99 risk check plus the price of your V5C alerts, and release the rest, because the risk check and the monitoring are delivered either way.
